….didn’t
see that one coming!
One thing is
for certain….natural disasters are, well, disastrous!
Thanks to Hurricane Sandy, it is possible that 3 Prius’parked in a New Jersey
Port caught fire after being submerged by the salt water from the storm.
Not to worry
though, it only happened to 3
of the 4,000 Toyota’s that were parked there.
“One Prius out and out burned, the others just kind of
smoldered and got really hot,” said Cindy Knight, a Toyota spokeswoman. “These
were definitely extraordinary circumstances.” she added. “Once the salt gets in
there, it’s ready to do damage.” – New York Times.

Crazy! I'm kind of curious how the salt water was capable of making these Prius catch fire... I think I'm going to read a little more into that one. Lesson learned, don't try to drive to Prius into the ocean. Got it. lol

From what I understand from some research I did was that the salt water reacts adversely to the battery under extreme circumstances (like being submerged!). I wish they would have made mention to what they can do to correct this, in the event that another Hurricane happens!
